The cured coating is a non-toxic, and colorless hardened polymer film that is only 100-200 nanometers in thickness so it has no affect on finished part dimensions.
It does not migrate out to the part surface, thereby allowing for secondary painting and decorating processes. This also allows the coating to be used in clean room and paint booth environments where silicone release products are forbidden.
Nanomoldcoating® is hydrophobic and oleophobic (water and oil repelling) and creates a very low coefficient of friction providing for anti-stick and anti-corrosion properties. As a protective barrier the coating eases cleaning of mold surfaces which are exposed to out gassing from materials such as pvc or acetal.
Nanomoldcoating® reduces surface friction which provides for faster injection fill rates, lower injection pressures, and minimal shear. Ultimately, faster uninterrupted cycle times are realized.
Nanomoldcoating® reduces scrap and rejected parts and can even enhance surface finishes. It greatly reduces material drag marks upon fill and is often applied to eliminate “ejector pin push” defects.
Nanomoldcoating® significantly reduces labor costs both in production and in tool maintenance as the mold can be often be left in automatic and unattended in cases where it normally could not. The coating in many cases can completely eliminate the need for traditional mold release agents along with the start and stop required to use these products.
Nanomoldcoating® is easily applied in house by simply wiping or brushing it on allowing for ultimate flexibility and cost savings by comparison to other coating technologies currently available in the marketplace.
Nanomoldcoating® offers the molder or mold maker the ability to quickly coat a tool or components in house that might otherwise be sent out to a third part for ptfe or nickel based coatings which may or may not work. Cost savings are immediately realized by eliminating the time required to ship to and from the “plater”, “plating” charges, and production down time.
